Women Drive to Court in Stolen Truck
Salem, Oregon – There were only three things
wrong with Chelsi Guinn and Kristie Jeffers’ decision to attend court that
day.
One, the vehicle they were driving was
reported stolen. Two, there was 21 grams of meth inside the vehicle and
three, both were on probation from similar offenses.
Sure enough, after the pair pulled into the
parking lot at the Marion County Courthouse, to attend a court appearance
for Guinn’s boyfriend, Deputy Sheriff Dave Wagner recognized the 1984 Toyota
truck as one reported stolen.
Deputy Wagner was leaving the Sheriff’s
administration building, which is adjacent to the courthouse, when the
vehicle description was called in over the police radio.
“It was right there and as I’m shaking my
head, I’m thinking, it can’t be it…..” Wagner said.
Both darling damsels were arrested as they
stepped into the courthouse. In addition to the 21 grams of meth, the
Deputy found scales and other drug-packaging material inside the vehicle.
Well, that’s one way to start a shift……..
Man Arrested After Trying to Rob a Nun
Madison, Wisconsin – A would-be thief
came up empty-handed after trying to rob a nun, who had taken a vow of
poverty.
The man broke into the 61-year-old Catholic’s
home shortly after 8 a.m. When she told him she had no money, he forced her
to drive him around in her car for almost an hour, in search of money.
As they drove, the robber apologized to the
victim and wondered if he’s going to be forgiven by her and the Catholic
Church.
Eventually, the man gave up and had the nun
drop him off on Madison’s south side. She then drove to the Catholic school
where she works and called police.
The 41-year-old Madison man was arrested later
that day, on a probation violation and tentative charges of kidnapping,
burglary, battery and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Man Gets 10 Years in License Shooting
Redding, CA – A 49-year-old truck
driver was sentenced to 10 years in prison for shooting his wife, after she
failed to renew his driver’s license.
Shasta County Sheriff’s Deputies said the man
became angry after he was cited for driving with an expired license and
blamed his wife for failing to renew it.
The man first threatened to shoot his wife’s
horse and fired a round from a .22 caliber rifle that narrowly missed his
wife and hit the family’s barn.
The wife ran down the driveway, while her
husband gave chase in his pickup truck. As the wife was climbing over a
fence, trying to get away, the husband aimed his rifle, told her, “You’re
dead” and fired a shot that hit her in the right thigh.
A Sheriff’s patrol car was pulling up as the
shooting took place. The man pled no contest to attempted voluntary
manslaughter, using a firearm and causing great bodily injury…
Dog Helps Criminal Slip Short Leash
An Israeli criminal slipped away from
house arrest by putting his electronic ankle monitor on his dog.
It wasn’t until police came to take the
criminal, convicted of attempted murder, to a sentencing hearing, that they
discovered that he was gone…without a trace.
“After we searched the house we saw that he
somehow managed to take the monitor off his leg and place it around the neck
of his dog, who continued to walk around the house.” according to a police
spokesman. (House arrest???)
Muggers Leave Their Own Pictures Behind
Berlin, Germany – Two German female
teenagers robbed a girl but accidentally left their own pictures behind for
police, on a discarded cell phone.
After stealing a 15-year-old’s shoes, money
and cell phone, the two older girls gave the victim an old cell phone. But
the two 17-year-olds had forgotten the old phone had their own photos,
striking smiley poses, which police published online.
The two muggers turned themselves in almost
simultaneously when the pictures appeared on the evening news.
Apparently the phones were flooded with calls,
because everyone recognized the girls, according to police.
Check Forger Selects Wrong Teller
A woman named Faith made a number of
bad choices that day. She reportedly stole some checks, forged one for $100
and then brazenly presented it to a downtown bank teller.
Bad enough in itself, but amazingly, the bank
teller just happened to be the rightful owner of the checks.
It was just after 9 a.m. and the bank teller
had only been on duty a few minutes, when in walks Faith and handed her a
driver’s license and a personal check made out for $100. “I’d like to cash
this,” said Faith.
As the teller looks at the check, she thinks
to herself, “Hey, this is my check!” She remembers that she had recently
ordered new checks and immediately thought someone had broken into her home.
Thinking quickly, the teller began tapping
away at a keyboard to buy some time while she quietly tried to get the
attention of a co-worker.
She was finally able to get the head teller to
call for a bank security officer and police.
Still stalling, the teller asked Faith where
she got the check. Faith told her that another woman gave it to her so she
could purchase some clothes.
Apparently growing suspicious, Faith said,
“The lady that wrote me the check is right outside, do you want to talk to
her?” When told yes, Faith turned around and walked out of the bank.
Once outside Faith took off, but a bank
security guard was in pursuit. Faith ducked into an alleyway and threw a
pad of personal checks to the ground.
Faith was finally arrested, charged with
forgery and found to be in possession of a homemade crack cocaine pipe.
