Long Term Disability Insurance Plan Comparison
Dear AOCDS Member:
The AOCDS has attempted to explore
the California Law Enforcement Association (CLEA) Long Term
Disability Insurance Plan. On August 9, 2007, a list of 34
questions regarding the details of the plan was sent to David Boffi,
president of CLEA. Included were questions about the size and
financial viability of the plan, claims history, specific benefit
questions, premium history, and the entity itself and its
responsibility to various government agencies.
On September 24, 2007, Mr. Boffi
responded in writing, “In response to your request for CLEA
documentation (question 1-34) in your letter dated August 9, 2007,
please be informed that we have decided not to provide the AOCDS
with any additional information at this time.”
As a result of CLEA refusing to provide the
AOCDS with important answers to the questions we have submitted in
writing, your Board of Directors is not able to provide you with an
AOCDS position regarding the CLEA Long Term Disability Plan. We
strongly encourage you to thoroughly research any Long Term
Disability product that you may be considering for purchase. Long
Term Disability coverage is very difficult for California peace
officers to obtain so please be careful before making any decision
that may put your or your family at financial risk.
With
Respect,
Wayne
Quint
AOCDS President
