MISSION VIEJO, CA — A Mission Viejo police officer was just recognized for all of his hard work and effort, after Deputy Casey Briggs was named Mission Viejo Police Services’ 2023 Employee of the Year.

With an eight-year career at the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, Briggs is known for his outstanding work ethic, tenacity and dedication to servicing the Mission Viejo community, Chief of Police Services Capt. Chris McDonald told Patch.

“Deputy Briggs’ ability to bridge the gap between the local community and City services underscores his dedication to holistic support,” McDonald said. “Through his efforts, he’s been instrumental in facilitating positive changes and meaningful transformations in the lives of many individuals facing hardships.”

Briggs currently serves as a Behavioral Health Bureau Deputy for the city. The position, according to McDonald, was created to provide specialized services to people in the community who suffer from various mental health concerns.

He has specialized training for encounters with people dealing with mental illness and is extremely adept at providing services to the homeless population, McDonald said.

Congratulations, Deputy Briggs — and thank you for your service!
