The Association of Orange County Deputy Sheriffs is proud to announce that we have been working with Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer to create a Crimes Against Peace Officers (CAPO) Unit.

The Orange County Board of Supervisors voted Tuesday to solicit bids from four pre-qualified contractors for a $167-million expansion of the James A. Musick Facility — a minimum-security jail in Irvine.

The decision launches the next stage of the Orange County Sheriff Department’s effort to grow its jail system.

California Senate Bill 54, which took effect on January 1, 2018, placed restrictions on collaboration between local custody operations and federal law enforcement authorities. These communication restrictions have resulted in 45 criminals with federal detainers re-offending following their release back into the community.
