RE: Investigator Edward Nichols (Ret.)

We are deeply sorry to inform you that one of our retired members has passed away unexpectedly. Investigator Edward Nichols died peacefully in his sleep on May 11th in Orland, California. The official cause of death has not yet been determined. He was 59 years old.

Ed joined the Orange County Sheriff’s Department in the 1980s and remained with the Department until he retired seven years ago. Ed was married to his wife Theresa for 27 years and it was their careers in law enforcement that brought them together. Theresa worked as a head nurse in the Orange County jail system until she retired twelve years ago. Ed spent much of his career working as an undercover narcotics investigator, which he enjoyed very much. Once he retired, Ed and Theresa relocated to Orland near Chico. Ed took up a new hobby in the rural area: raising sheep and training cattle dogs.
