Member Loses Two Relatives in Car Crash

One of our members has experienced the tragic loss of both his sister-in-law and niece in a multi-vehicle accident on the Garden Grove (22) Freeway. Deputy Anthony Alvarez and his family are mourning the loss of 33-year-old Jolene Castillo and her nine-year-old daughter, Payton Castillo. Jolene’s young son survived the crash and was not hurt but he and his older brother are now left without a mother and sister. The crash happened in the early morning hours of New Year’s Day. A man has been arrested in the deaths. He was booked on suspicion of DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.

This has understandably taken an incredible toll on the family and we want to do whatever we can to help. We are now accepting donations through the AOCDS Memorial Fund to help make this extremely difficult time a bit less burdensome for the Castillo and Alvarez families.
