Today, after more than two years of intense scrutiny and false blame, now retired Orange County D.A. investigator Dillon Alley was vindicated in an incident, where he was attacked by a criminal defense attorney in a courthouse hallway on March 9, 2016. A jury awarded Alley $250,000 in punitive damages. This after criminal defense lawyer James Crawford filed a lawsuit against the taxpayers of Orange County for $10 million. Criminal attorney Crawford received nothing in damages. As we’ve stated from the very beginning, we viewed this action by criminal defense attorney Crawford as an attempt to drum up a payday at the expense of Orange County taxpayers. The jury clearly determined and made a resounding statement that bullies like criminal defense attorney Crawford should not be rewarded. We were always confident that the facts of this case would play out and they certainly did. Today, Dillon Alley received the confirmation, clarity and vindication that he so deserves. There is no place for a tyrant like criminal defense attorney James Crawford in the Orange County courts or any court in our nation.

Dillon Alley was understandably ecstatic after today’s jury decision. He says “I would like to offer my gratitude and thanks to AOCDS, the County of Orange and my family and friends for their continuous support over the last two years of difficulty and uncertainty.”

Sincerely,

Tom Dominguez
