Sheriff-Coroner Recommendation

Re:               Sheriff-Coroner Recommendation

Date:            January 29, 2018

The AOCDS Board and Political Action Committee (PAC) met after the live broadcast of the AOCDS Sheriff’s Candidate Forum. Both candidates, Undersheriff Don Barnes and Aliso Viejo Mayor Dave Harrington, were interviewed by a panel of four and invited to share additional comments from a questionnaire they submitted. The PAC and Board also received a full analysis of the candidates and of the race by the AOCDS political consultant. The PAC and later the Board of Directors held a lengthy detailed discussion. As a result, the PAC and Board of Directors, by unanimous vote of each body, recommends that Undersheriff Don Barnes receives our endorsement for Orange County Sheriff-Coroner. This recommendation is non-binding and the AOCDS membership by secret ballot vote will ultimately determine the endorsement for Sheriff-Coroner.

You should have received your secret ballot in the mail by now. Please remember that all ballots must be returned by Monday, February 5, 2018. Ballots will be counted at 1000 hours on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at the AOCDS office. Members are welcome to attend the ballot counting.

Thank you for your involvement in making this crucial decision. Return your secret ballot today!

Respectfully,

Tom Dominguez
