Re: Remote Area Search and Rescues

We learned yesterday afternoon that Sheriff Sandra Hutchens will not issue another extension of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) detailing the dual-agency approach to search and rescue missions in remote areas with the Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA). We support this decision and feel strongly that it is in the best interest of public safety for the residents of Orange County. During the recent negotiations and mediation process, we have seen Sheriff Hutchens and Undersheriff Don Barnes work closely and collaboratively with the OCFA leadership to reach a solution to an effective operating plan. We are appreciative of their endeavors and the effort put forth by the OCFA leadership.
