Important OCERS Voting Information Affecting All General Members

AOCDS member Artin Baron is running for the position of general member on the OCERS board of directors. This election is extremely important, because all positions on the board directly affect all county employees, including AOCDS members. The incumbent has voted with the anti-pension Lincoln Club appointee to raise your pension costs, not once, but twice. The AOCDS board of directors, including OCERS safety member Roger Hilton, strongly endorses Artin Baron. We encourage you to speak with your non-AOCDS member colleagues about supporting and voting for Artin as well.

Artin Baron is a deputy coroner employed by the Orange County Sheriff-Coroner Department and has worked in law enforcement for more than 20 years. Artin brings more than 18 years of experience in leadership roles in employee labor organizations, including as an area representative for the Orange County Employees Association, negotiations team member and vice president to the Sheriff’s Special Officer (SSO)/Deputy Coroner Board. Most recently, Artin has become an active member of the Association of Orange County Deputy Sheriffs (AOCDS) taking on roles as an area representative, negotiations team member and member of the Political Action Committee (PAC).

Artin remains active outside of work as well. He sits on the Garden Grove Boys and Girls Club as an associate member and is a member of the California Coroner Association and International Coroner Association. He also boasts an impressive educational career. He holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a concentration in human development, an occupational certificate in criminal justice and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree. In addition, Artin has earned a vocational teaching credential, which he currently uses as an adjunct criminal justice instructor for the Garden Grove Unified School District.

Ensuring all county employees have a secure retirement is of the utmost importance. This is our chance to help elect someone to represent all county employees.

We implore you to get out and urge your civilian colleagues to vote for Artin Baron in this crucial election. Artin Baron possesses the experience, knowledge and leadership skills to get you what you deserve and have earned.
